Regular Season Round 18: Villarrobledo - Gran Canaria B 83-76

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Gran Canaria B (10-8) lost on the road to tenth ranked Villarrobledo (9-9) 83-76 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-15. But Gran Canaria B won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villarrobledo made 17-of-17 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. It was a good game for American guard Bo Barnes (193-90, college: Arizona St., agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 4 assists. The other American import forward Reco McCarter (198-90, college: Campbell) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Latvian center Klavs Cavars (205-96) replied with 18 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Latvian guard Kristaps Gluditis (191-95) added 15 points in the effort for Gran Canaria B. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Villarrobledo moved-up to ninth place in Group B. Loser Gran Canaria B keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Villarrobledo will face higher ranked Casvi (#3) in Villaviciosa in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
