Regular Season Round 18: Leon - Vigo VGO 103-102

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Vigo VGO (4-11) was edged on the road by third ranked Leon (11-4) 103-102 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Leon forced 20 Vigo VGO turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Vigo VGO was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American Ted Hinnenkamp (201-93, college: Dickinson, agency: Duran International) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Javier Laborda (197-91) contributed with 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Nick Grieves (193-92, college: CS East Bay) replied with 30 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import Johnathan Murphy (199-89, college: Columbus St.) added 25 points in the effort for Vigo VGO. Five Leon and four Vigo VGO players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Leon moved-up to second place in Group A-B, which they share with Estudiantes L. Newly promoted Vigo VGO keeps the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Leon will face Gijon (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vigo VGO will play against Innova Chef and hope to win that game.
