Regular Season Round 19: San Miniato - Montecatini 81-51

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Montecatiniterme (10-8) was smashed on the road by seventh ranked San Miniato (11-8) 81-51 on Sunday. San Miniato dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Montecatiniterme's 20. San Miniato forced 20 Montecatiniterme turnovers. It was a very good performance for forward Gabriele Giarelli (197-93, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Francesco Stefanelli (190-95) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. San Miniato's coach Federico Barsotti felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Nelson Rizzitiello (198-84) answered with 25 points and forward Marco Petrucci (195-92) added 7 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Montecatiniterme. San Miniato moved-up to fifth place in B, which they share with Lecco. Newly promoted Montecatiniterme dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. San Miniato will face Domodossola (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Montecatiniterme will play against Valsesia (#3) and hope to win that game.
