Regular Season Round 8: Alab Pilipinas - Saigon H. 65-72

Date: February 5, 2017
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Filipino Alab Pilipinas (5-4) against sixth ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (2-6) on Sunday night. Host Alab Pilipinas were defeated by Saigon Heat in a tough game in Manila 65-72. Alab Pilipinas were ahead by 13 points after three quarters before a 28-8 charge of Saigon Heat, which allowed them to win the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by American Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks and the other American import power forward Christien Charles (216-81, college: Villanova) supported him with 9 points and 17 rebounds. Even 27 points and 6 rebounds by American-Filipino guard Bobby Ray Parks (193-93, college: High School) did not help to save the game for Alab Pilipinas. American forward Sampson Carter (203-90, college: Massachusetts, agency: Haylett Sports) added 13 points and 18 rebounds for the hosts. Alab Pilipinas' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Saigon Heat moved-up to fifth place. Alab Pilipinas at the other side keep the third position with four games lost. Saigon Heat will play against higher ranked Kaohsiung (#4) in Kaohsiung City in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Alab Pilipinas will play on the road against the league's leader Singapore Slingers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
