Regular Season Round 24: Runa Basket - Cheb.Yastreby 73-76

Eighth-ranked Runa Basket (3-23) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Cheb.Yastreby (17-9) in Moscow on Wednesday. The visitors from Cheboksari managed to secure only three-point victory 76-73. However their fans expected much easier game. Cheb.Yastreby looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for Stepan Getmanov (200-96) who led his team to a victory with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals. Forward Nikolay Dolmatov (202-88) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Andrey Semenov (201-90, college: JMU) replied with 20 points and 7 rebounds and guard Arseniy Metreveli (189-95) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Runa Basket. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Runa Basket's coach Jovan Popovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cheb.Yastreby have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-9 record having just one point less than leader Tambov. Runa Basket lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 23 lost games. Cheb.Yastreby are looking forward to face Dyn-Magn.ChL (#3) in Cheliabinsk in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Runa Basket will play at home against Dynamo-CBK (#5) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
