Date: February 10, 2017
Leader Khimik delivered the twentieth victory. This time they crushed 6th ranked Mykolaiv (9-15) 101-59 in Yuzhny. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik. Mykolaiv was better in third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Mykolaiv 46-23 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American point guard Jaime Smith (190-89, college: Al.-Huntsville) who led his team to a victory with 15 points. International power forward Viacheslav Petrov (204-94, agency: AproK Sports Group) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Khimik players scored in double figures. Power forward Artem Chemiakin (208-84) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds and the former international power forward Artem Shvets (201-85) added 14 points in the effort for Mykolaiv. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Khimik. Defending champion maintains first place with 20-2 record. Mykolaiv at the other side keeps the sixth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Zaporizhya. Khimik will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mykolaiv will play on the road against Bipa Basket (#4) in Odessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
