Regular Season Round 19: Ponferrada CDP - La Fecha 85-57

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Ponferrada CDP (9-7) outscored at home 9th ranked La Fecha (6-10) 85-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Ponferrada CDP. La Fecha was better in second period 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ponferrada CDP dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to La Fecha's 28. They outrebounded La Fecha 46-25 including a 33-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 6 rebounds. Haitian-American forward James Cambronne (201-91, college: St.Michael's) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. Cambronne is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Ponferrada CDP players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Millan Lopez (185-94) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and center Hector Parras (198-89) scored 7 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Ponferrada CDP maintains seventh place in Group A-B with 9-7 record. La Fecha lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. Ponferrada CDP will face league's leader Chantada on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. La Fecha will play against Calidus Gal.COB (#5) and hope to win that game.
