Regular Season Round 19: Cartagena - Almassera 79-67

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Cartagena (10-7) won against at home 10th ranked Almassera (2-15) 79-67 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 44-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Cartagena made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Cartagena outrebounded Almassera 37-24 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Stephon Carter (193-91, college: CSU Bakersfield) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Antonio Ferragut (196-94) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. Cartagena's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side point guard Joaquin Rodenas (186-90) responded with 32 points and 6 rebounds and forward Matias Boho (193-96) scored 5 points and 8 rebounds. Cartagena moved-up to third place in Group E, which they share with Valencia II. Loser Almassera keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Cartagena will face Sagunto (#9) in Gilet in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Almassera will play at home against Paterna and hope to win that game.
