Second Stage Round 1: NH Ostrava - J.Hradec 101-83

There was a minor upset when BK Lions Hradec (7-16) was defeated on the road by NH Ostrava (7-16) 101-83. NH Ostrava outrebounded BK Lions Hradec 40-18 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. NH Ostrava players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. BK Lions Hradec was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Petr Bohacik (205-85) nailed 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American forward Kevin Mays (193-92, college: CSU Bakersfield) accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds. Five NH Ostrava players scored in double figures. American guard Malcolm Brooks (196-92, college: CS Fullerton) came up with 28 points and 5 rebounds and Jiri Soula (189-95) added 9 points and 4 steals respectively for BK Lions Hradec in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. NH Ostrava will play against MMCITE Brno (#11) at home in the next round. BK Lions Hradec will play against Basketbal Svitavy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
