Regular Season Round 19: Calidus Gal.COB - Estudiantes L. 79-72

There was a small surprise in Ourense where sixth ranked Calidus Gal.COB (10-5) defeated 3rd placed Estudiantes L. (11-5) 79-72 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Estudiantes L. won third quarter 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Calidus Gal.COB made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for forward Cristian Iglesias (198-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Georgian swingman Luka Bulashvili (192-98, agency: Dynamics Global Management) helped adding 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Calidus Gal.COB players scored in double figures. At the losing side Ivorian center Seydou Aboubacar (207-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Marcos Ruiz (176-95) scored 15 points. Estudiantes L.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Calidus Gal.COB moved-up to fourth place in Group A-B, which they share with BVM 2012. Loser Estudiantes L. keeps the third position with five games lost. Calidus Gal.COB will face La Fecha (#10) in Arroyo Encomienda in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Estudiantes L. will play at home against Vigo VGO (#13) and hope to win that game.
