Regular Season Round 21: Asker Aliens - Centrum 77-98

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Centrum (15-10) smashed on the road 7th ranked Asker Aliens (12-13) 98-77 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Centrum. Asker Aliens was better in fourth quarter 29-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Centrum dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Asker Aliens' 34. They outrebounded Asker Aliens 51-31 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swingman Aksel Bolinz (201-90, college: N.Illinois) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and point guard Magnus Midtvedt (182-90) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Four Centrum players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Espen Stien (186-86) with 36 points (!!!) and Latvian forward Alvis Eglitis (195-85) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Centrum. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 15-10 record. Asker Aliens lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 13 games lost. Centrum will face league's second-placed Baerum Basket in Bekkestua in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Asker Aliens will play on the road against Tromso (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
