No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Palanga (18-19) beat on the road 12th ranked Mazeikiai (13-23) 81-67 on Friday. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 27-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Palanga outrebounded Mazeikiai 39-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for guard Zygimantas Simonis (192-95) who led the winners and scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Mantvydas Staselis (189-94) accounted for 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Swingman Kostas Jonuska (195-92) came up with 19 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Ernestas Bruzas (183-96) added 7 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Mazeikiai in the defeat. Palanga maintains ninth place with 18-19 record. Loser Mazeikiai dropped to the eleventh position with 23 games lost. They share it with KTU. Palanga will meet at home KTU (#11) in the next round. Mazeikiai will play against Zalgiris II and hope to secure a win.
