Regular Season Round 22: Armann - FSU 59-86

Date: February 17, 2017
Rather expected game in Reykjavik where bottom-ranked Armann (0-20) was crushed by seventh ranked FSU (7-13) 86-59 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by FSU. Armann was better in third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Armann's 36. FSU forced 19 Armann turnovers. American forward Terrance Motley (201-91, college: Sam Houston St.) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Ari Gylfason (186-89) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four FSU players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Brynjar Fridriksson (200-96) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Daniel Fridriksson (175-95) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. FSU maintains seventh position with 7-13 record. Loser Armann still closes the standings. FSU will face higher ranked Valur (#3) in Reykjavik in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Armann will play on the road against Hamar (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
