Regular Season Round 24: Challans - Quimper 75-72

Date: February 18, 2017
Important game to mention about took place in Challans. Thirteenth ranked Vendee Challans (11-13) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-best Quimper UJAP (17-7) 75-72 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. The hosts were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 7-point deficit before their 27-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. Vendee Challans made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Quimper UJAP was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American center Demarco Cox (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) who scored that evening 15 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian Djordje Petrovic (202-84) supported him with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Even 14 points and 7 rebounds by naturalized Cameroonian guard Ralph Temgoua (194-87, college: St.Lawrence) did not help to save the game for Quimper UJAP. American forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) added 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Quimper UJAP's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vendee Challans moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Quimper UJAP at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Souffel. Vendee Challans will play against higher ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Quimper UJAP will play against Rueil (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
