Regular Season Round 5: Astana Tigers - Irtysh 59-28

An interesting game for Astana Tigers (10-0) which hosted in Astana second-ranked Irtysh (3-7). Leader Astana Tigers had an easy win 59-28. The game without a history. Astana Tigers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Irtysh to just 6 points in fourth quarter and to 13 points in second half. Astana Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Irtysh's 22. Astana Tigers forced 25 Irtysh turnovers. Ukrainian guard Olga Dubrovina (170-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 4 steals (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The former international center Anna Vinokurova (192-92) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Astana Tigers players scored in double figures. Forward Karina Olenberg (179-98) answered with 13 points and 8 rebounds and center Mariya Pissareva (182-95) added 6 points in the effort for Irtysh. Irtysh's coach Evgeniy Ovsiannikov gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Astana Tigers maintains first place with 10-0 record. Irtysh at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. Astana Tigers are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Okzhetpes (#3) in Kokshetay in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Irtysh will play at home against Okzhetpes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
