Second Stage Round 5: Koping - AIK 82-87

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked AIK's (6-1) road victory over 3rd placed Koping (4-4) 87-82 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-19. But Koping won second period 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international guard Serkan Inan (201-86) stepped up and scored 21 points and 8 assists for the winners and Turkish guard Erkan Inan (195-89) chipped in 24 points and 4 assists. AIK's coach Stefan Jovanovic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Ronnie Boggs (192-91, college: Jacksonville St., agency: Interperformances) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals and the other American import guard Khalil Davis (196-94, college: Austin Peay St., agency: Interperformances) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted AIK maintains second place in Superettan with 6-1 record having 4 victories less than leader IK Eos. Loser Koping keeps the third position with four games lost. AIK will face Hogsbo (#5) in Goteborg in the next round. Koping will play on the road against the league's leader Djurgarden and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
