Very important is a road loss of Sokol Slapanice (2-3) against Basket Kosice (3-2) on Friday night. Visiting Sokol Slapanice was crushed by Basket Kosice in Kosice 109-79. Basket Kosice dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Sokol Slapanice's 52. They outrebounded Sokol Slapanice 50-33 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Basket Kosice looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Sokol Slapanice's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Basket Kosice made 10 blocks. Center Matej Bernath (203-94) stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and center Matej Schinko (208-91) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Basket Kosice's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Zdenek Sebela (192-87) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and forward Martin Muller (194-94) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Sokol Slapanice players scored in double figures. Basket Kosice will meet Olomouc Bbal (#5) on the road in the next round. Sokol Slapanice will play against Sokol Hradec Kralove and hope to secure a win.
