Regular Season Round 21: La Roda - Tenerife Naut. 78-73

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked La Roda's (14-7) home victory over 6th ranked Tenerife Naut. (12-7) 78-73 on Saturday. Tenerife Naut. was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Tenerife Naut. 33-22 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for La Roda especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) who led his team to a victory with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Norman Rey (203-87) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Ayoze Alonso (187-91) answered with 18 points and guard Francisco Pomares (192-94) added 11 points and 4 assists in the effort for Tenerife Naut.Four Tenerife Naut. players scored in double figures. Tenerife Naut.'s coach Santi Lucena tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. La Roda moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Azuqueca. Loser Tenerife Naut. keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. La Roda will face CB Guadalajara (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tenerife Naut. will play against Viten Fuen. and hope to win that game.
