Regular Season Round 25: Rennes - Chartres 70-72

Important game to mention about took place in Rennes. Twelfth ranked UB Chartres (12-13) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 14th ranked Union Rennes (10-15) 72-70 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 19-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Point guard Olivier Romain (180-88) fired 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Power forward Harry Disy (200-84, college: Louisiana Tech) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Senegalese guard El-Kabir Pene (190-84) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and American swingman Daviin Davis (193-85, college: Weber St.) added 16 points, 7 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Four Union Rennes players scored in double figures. Union Rennes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UB Chartres moved-up to ninth place, which they share with St Vallier and Gries/Oberhoffen. Union Rennes lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted Union Rennes keeps the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. UB Chartres will face higher ranked Orchesien BC (#6) in Orchies in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Union Rennes will play on the road against SAP Vaucluse (#14) in Sorgues and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
