Regular Season Round 11: KL Dragons - Hong Kong ELL 85-88

Sixth-ranked Malaysian KL Dragons (3-12) gave a tough game to first ranked Hong Kong ELL (11-2) in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday. The visitors from Hong Kong managed to secure only three-point victory 88-85. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 26-20 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Hong Kong ELL dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to KL Dragons' 30. It was a great evening for American power forward Josh Boone (208-84, college: Connecticut) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) helped adding 21 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Hong Kong ELL players scored in double figures. Hong Kong ELL's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Kiwi Gardner (170-93, college: Providence) responded with 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Ivan Yeo (195-93) scored 8 points and 17 rebounds. Hong Kong ELL have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-2 record. KL Dragons at the other side stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Hong Kong ELL are looking forward to face Kaohsiung (#5) in Kaohsiung City in the next round. KL Dragons will play on the road against Alab Pilipinas in Manila and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
