Regular Season Round 42: Fukushima - Shinshu BW 97-79

Very expected game when 6th ranked Shinshu BW (12-29) lost on the road to second ranked Fukushima (24-16) 97-79 on Sunday. The game without a history. Fukushima led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 28-of-35 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Fukushima outrebounded Shinshu BW 39-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Shinshu BW was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Canadian center Chad Posthumus (211-91, college: Morehead St.) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Dutch power forward Jeroen van-der-List (213-89, college: Indian Hills CC) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Shinshu BW. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Fukushima maintains second position with 24-16 record having six points less than leader Gunma. Loser Shinshu BW keeps the sixth place with 29 games lost. Fukushima will face league's leader Toyotsu FE in Nagoya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shinshu BW will play at home against the league's leader Gunma (#1) and hope to win that game.
