Regular Season Round 42: Hitachi SR - Kyoto Hannar. 75-79

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (19-20) against fourth ranked Kyoto Hannar. (20-21) on Sunday night. Host Hitachi Sunrockers were defeated by Kyoto Hannar. in a tough game in Tokyo 75-79. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-10. But Hitachi Sunrockers won third quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Kyoto Hannar. won last quarter 28-25. American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) notched 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import Marcus Dove (206-85, college: Oklahoma St.) supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists by the former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) did not help to save the game for Hitachi Sunrockers. Point guard Takashi Ito (174-90) added 12 points and 7 assists. Five Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kyoto Hannar. maintains fourth position with 20-21 record. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers keep the third place with 20 games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
