Very expected game when 11th ranked Ryazan (5-15) was defeated at home by third ranked Universitet-Yugra (13-5) 89-72. Universitet-Yugra dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Ryazan's 36. The winners were led by Serbian Nikola Lepojevic (195-82, agency: BeoExcell) who scored that evening 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Andrei Ivanov (197-84, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Five Universitet-Yugra players scored in double figures. Universitet-Yugra's coach Sergei Olhov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 18 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) by international Ivan Rusetskiy (198-93) did not help to save the game for Ryazan. Swingman Mikhail Karpachev (198-92) added 9 points and 11 rebounds. Universitet-Yugra maintains third position with 13-5 record having 2 victories less than leader Novosybirsk. Ryazan at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 15 games lost. Universitet-Yugra will play against Sakhalin (#5) in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk in the next round. Ryazan will play at home against the league's second-placed Samara-SGEU (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
