Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Bandirma Kir. (12-13) was edged by seventh ranked Istanbulspor (16-9) in Balikesir 69-67 on Tuesday. Istanbulspor made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Istanbulspor outrebounded Bandirma Kir. 38-24 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bandirma Kir. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Point guard Baris Erlim (182-90) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Istanbulspor players scored in double figures. Talat-Alp Altunbey (204-94) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds and Sehmus Hazer (-99) added 12 points, 5 assists and 5 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for Bandirma Kir.Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Istanbulspor have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted Istanbulspor maintains seventh place with 16-9 record. Loser Bandirma Kir. keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Istanbulspor will face higher ranked Afyon Bld (#6) in Afyonkarahisar in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
