Regular Season Round 15: Capitalinos - Camaguey 82-60

Date: March 1, 2017
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Capitalinos (9-5) crushed 7th ranked Tigres (1-13) in La Habana 82-60 on Wednesday. Capitalinos dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Tigres' 26. They outrebounded Tigres 38-21 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for the former international power forward Jasul Rivero (203-93) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). International center Abel Font (206-97) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Yoimar Lopez (-96) came up with 15 points and Ricardo Carmenato added 11 points respectively for Tigres in the defeat. Four Tigres players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitalinos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 9-5 record having five points less than leader Villa Clara, which they share with Matanzas. Loser Tigres keep the seventh position with 13 games lost. Capitalinos will meet at home league's second-placed Pinar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tigres will play against Ciego (#6) in Avila and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
