Second Stage Round 7: Fisica - Sanjoanense 91-79

Everything could happen in Torres Vedras at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Fisica and 12th ranked Sanjoanense had identical 3-3 record. This time Fisica used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from 91-79 on Saturday night. Fisica forced 20 Sanjoanense turnovers. It was a great evening for Nuno Monteiro (180-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points. Guard Miguel Salvador (187-81) helped adding 19 points and 4 steals. Four Fisica players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Pedro Azevedo (193-81) responded with 30 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and Swedish-American forward Elias Desport (203-92, college: St.Peter's) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Fisica. Newly promoted Fisica maintains eleventh place in Places 9-16 with 4-3 record, which they share with Belenenses CF. Sanjoanense at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. Fisica will face higher ranked Angrabasket (#9) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sanjoanense will play against Sangalhos (#10) and hope to win that game.
