Regular Season Round 22: Quintanar - Gran Canaria B 66-84

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Gran Canaria B (13-9) beat on the road 10th ranked Quintanar (10-11) 84-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gran Canaria B. Quintanar was better in third quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gran Canaria B forced 20 Quintanar turnovers. Strangely Quintanar outrebounded Gran Canaria B 32-20 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Latvian guard Kristaps Gluditis (191-95) scored 28 points to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian center Rokas Gadiliauskas (205-98) chipped in 6 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Gran Canaria B's coach Rafael Arocha used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American center Emmanuel Okoroba (203-92, college: Hampton) responded with 31 points and 8 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import forward Martin Smith (196, college: Lipscomb) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Gran Canaria B maintains seventh position in Group B with 13-9 record. Quintanar lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 11 games lost. Gran Canaria B will face higher ranked Real Madrid II (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Quintanar will play against Torrelodones (#15) in Madrid and hope to win that game.
