Date: March 4, 2017
Guantanamo upset Capitalinas in Liga Superior Finals opener. Capitalinas trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 21-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-79 at the end of the game. Guantanamo made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Clenia Noblet (190-87) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Maria Montero (176-98) contributed with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. International Suchitel Avila (184-82) answered with 12 points and 7 rebounds and center Leanyi Becquer (190) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Capitalinas. Four Capitalinas players scored in double figures. Capitalinas' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.
