Regular Season Round 22: Sagunto - L Alfas 61-66

Date: March 4, 2017
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Gilet where their biggest opponent Sagunto (5-4) was defeated by third ranked L Alfas (6-4) 66-61 on Saturday. It was a key game for the top position in Group E Descen. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Sagunto was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American Jalen Nesbitt (198, college: N.Florida) scored 28 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Justyn Searle (208, college: Concordia, OR) chipped in 7 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Dutch forward Jordan Kaspers (197-91) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and German-Polish power forward Alexander Machowski (205-91) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. L Alfas keeps a position of Group E Descen leader, which they share with Benidorm. Loser Sagunto dropped to the third place with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
