Regular Season Round 23: Speyer - Lich II 65-66

A very close game took place in Speyer between Lich II and Speyer. Sixth ranked Lich II (14-7) got a very close victory on the road over 4th placed Speyer (14-8). Lich II managed to escape with a 1-point win 66-65 in the game for the third place. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Henning Schaake (201-95) accounted for 11 points for the winning side. Lich II's coach Christian Knaus allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Spanish point guard Jordi Salto (190-90) came up with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and American power forward Aaron Ellis (205-87, college: Wichita St.) added 18 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Speyer in the defeat. Four Speyer players scored in double figures. Lich II moved-up to third place in South-West. Loser Speyer keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Limburg and Koblenz. Lich II will meet at home league's leader BV Villingen-Schwenningen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Speyer will play against Kaiserslautern and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
