Regular Season Round 24: Baerum Basket - Persbraten 98-79

Date: March 5, 2017
Very expected game in Bekkestua where 10th ranked Persbraten (2-25) was crushed by second ranked Baerum Basket (21-6) 98-79. The game was mostly controlled by Baerum Basket. Persbraten was better in fourth quarter 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Baerum Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Persbraten's 36. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The winners were led by American forward James Weatherspoon (198-92, college: Toledo) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (on 15-of-18 shooting from the field) and point guard Stian Mjos (183-89) supported him with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds by Swedish guard Aron Furstenberg (192-88) did not help to save the game for Persbraten. Forward Eivind Jorgensen (195-94) added 18 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Baerum Basket maintains second position with 21-6 record having just two points less than leader Kongsberg. Newly promoted Persbraten stay dead last with 25 lost games.
