Regular Season Round 12: Kaohsiung - Hong Kong ELL 75-89

Date: March 5, 2017
Hong Kong leader Hong Kong ELL delivered the thirteenth victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Taiwanese Kaohsiung (5-11) 89-75 in Kaohsiung City. The game was mostly controlled by Hong Kong ELL. Kaohsiung was better in fourth quarter 26-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by American power forward Josh Boone (208-84, college: Connecticut) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Tyler Lamb (196-91, college: Long Beach St.) supported him with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Hong Kong ELL players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds by American-Hungarian power forward Derek Hall (211-90, college: Albright) did not help to save the game for Kaohsiung. American forward Chris Oliver (201-85, college: Radford) added 19 points and 6 rebounds. Kaohsiung's coach tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hong Kong ELL (13-2) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Kaohsiung lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 11 games lost. Hong Kong ELL's next round opponent will be Alab Pilipinas (#3) in Manila, which may be the game of the day. Kaohsiung will play on the road against the league's second-placed Singapore Slingers and hope to win that game.
