Regular Season Round 26: MBA Moscow - Sakhalin 92-118

The game between 10th ranked MBA Moscow (7-13) and fifth ranked Sakhalin (13-8) in Moscow ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk outscored MBA Moscow 118-92. Sakhalin well out of reach of MBA Moscow shooting 72.4 percent from the field and made 23-of-23 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. They outrebounded MBA Moscow 29-15 including a 24-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Sakhalin especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. The former international power forward Artem Yakovenko (205-88, agency: Alti Sport) scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Igor Smygin (197-87) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Point guard Andrey Sopin (180-97) responded with 10 points and 7 assists and the former international forward Sergey Toporov (197-81, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 13 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. MBA Moscow's coach Alexander Afanasyev gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Sakhalin moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Irkut. MBA Moscow at the other side keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Sakhalin will play against Ryazan (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. MBA Moscow will play against Khimky-Podmoskoye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
