Regular Season Round 27: Rennes - St Vallier 77-83

Date: March 7, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Union Rennes (11-16) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Saint Vallier (13-14) 83-77. It looked good early as Union Rennes took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Saint Vallier had a 29-15 second period charge getting the lead and Union Rennes was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-83. Strangely Union Rennes outrebounded Saint Vallier 40-23 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Union Rennes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American point guard Omar Strong (175-90, college: Texas Southern) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. Guard Jesse Delhomme (189-85) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four Saint Vallier players scored in double figures. American swingman Daviin Davis (193-85, college: Weber St.) answered with 29 points and 7 assists and center Ludovic Negrobar (207-91) added 13 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Union Rennes. Union Rennes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Saint Vallier moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Union Rennes keeps the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Saint Vallier's next round opponent will be higher ranked Orchesien BC (#6) in Orchies and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Union Rennes will play on the road against Lourdes-Tarbes (#7) and hope to win that game.
