Regular Season Round 27: Challans - Vitre 85-74

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Vitre (11-16) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Vendee Challans (13-14) 85-74. It looked good early as Vitre took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Vendee Challans had a 35-17 second period charge getting the lead and Vitre was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-85. Vendee Challans made 23-of-25 charity shots (92.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American center Demarco Cox (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Naturalized Mali point guard Ibrahim Saounera (179-87) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Montenegrin center Aleksandar Radulovic (207-83) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Montenegrin guard Nikola Korac (185-86) added 9 points and 9 assists in the effort for Vitre. Vendee Challans moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Vitre lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Vendee Challans' next round opponent will be Angers BC (#17) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Vitre will play against Rueil (#4) and hope to win that game.
