Vytautas secured their semifinal appearance despite a narrow road loss to Valmiera. The game was mostly controlled by Valmiera. Vytautas was better in second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Vytautas outrebounded Valmiera 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Martins Laksa (200-90) notched 18 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall) supported him with 14 points and 4 assists. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Valmiera's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 8 points and 8 rebounds by forward Martynas Linkevicius (196-85, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Vytautas. Forward Tadas Klimavicius (204-82) added 11 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Four Vytautas players scored in double figures.
