Regular Season Round 28: Caen - Gries/Oberhoffen 95-68

Leader Caen delivered the twenty second victory. This time they crushed 12th ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (13-15) 95-68. It looked good early as Gries/Oberhoffen took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Caen had a 24-16 second period charge getting the lead and Gries/Oberhoffen was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-95. Caen forced 21 Gries/Oberhoffen turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Cape Verdean swingman BJ Monteiro (196-90, college: Duquesne) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Richie Gordon (203-89, college: W.Carolina) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Five Caen players scored in double figures. American forward Gregg Thondique (201-87, college: Virginia Union, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and Ahmed Doumbia (195-89) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gries/Oberhoffen. Caen (22-6) have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Newly promoted Gries/Oberhoffen keeps the twelfth place with 15 games lost. Caen will play against GET Vosges (#5) in Golbey in the next round. Gries/Oberhoffen will play at home against UB Chartres (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
