Regular Season Round 28: Lourdes - Rennes 87-85

Thirteenth-ranked Union Rennes (11-17) made lots of trouble for seventh ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (16-12). Lourdes-Tarbes managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as Union Rennes took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lourdes-Tarbes had a 29-21 second period charge getting the lead and Union Rennes was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-87. Lourdes-Tarbes shot 60.9 percent from the field and made 23-of-28 charity shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Lourdes-Tarbes had a 26-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by the former international point guard Xane d'Almeida (181-83) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists and forward Florian Lesca (198-89) supported him with 20 points. Four Lourdes-Tarbes players scored in double figures. Even 27 points and 4 assists by American swingman Daviin Davis (193-85, college: Weber St.) did not help to save the game for Union Rennes. Center Ludovic Negrobar (207-91) added 18 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lourdes-Tarbes moved-up to fifth place, which they share with GET Vosges. Newly promoted Union Rennes dropped to the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. Lourdes-Tarbes' next round opponent will be Vitre (#14) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Union Rennes will play against Orchesien BC in Orchies and hope to win that game.
