Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Lusitania (6-19) and Maia Basket (5-21), which took place in Maia. 9th ranked Lusitania lost to twelfth ranked Maia Basket in a road game 77-88 on Saturday. Maia Basket shot 21 for 29 from the free-throw line, while Lusitania only scored five points from the stripe. The winners were led by point guard Pedro Catarino (184-90) who scored that evening 39 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and the former international center David Gomes (200-86) supported him with 5 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds by naturalized Angolan forward Antonio Monteiro (204-89) did not help to save the game for Lusitania. American center Chris Matagrano (206-90, college: New Hampshire) added 14 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Four Maia Basket and five Lusitania players scored in double figures. Maia Basket moved-up to eleventh place in Places 7-12. Lusitania lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 19 games lost. Maia Basket will meet higher ranked CAB Madeira (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lusitania will play against Sampaense and hope to secure a win.
