Regular Season Round 22: Alghero - Scrivia 52-63

Very expected game when 14th ranked Alghero (1-21) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Scrivia (13-9) 63-52 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Scrivia. Alghero was better in second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Scrivia dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Alghero's 20. Center Clara Salvini (180-92) fired 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Finnish forward Krista Gross (183-90, college: N.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. Bulgarian point guard Iva Georgieva (170-96, college: Salt Lake CC) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Sara Azzellini (170-86) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Alghero's coach Piero Scarano tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Scrivia maintains seventh position with 13-9 record. Alghero lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth place with 21 games lost. Scrivia will face San Salvatore (#9) at home in the next round. Alghero will play against Virtus Cagliari (#10) and hope to win that game.
