Regular Season Round 24: Menorca - Calvia 66-77

Not a big story in a game in Mahon where 3rd ranked Menorca (13-8) was defeated by first ranked Calvia (16-5) 77-66 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Calvia. Menorca was better in third quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was forward Ivan Matemalas (194-80) who scored 31 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Toni Carrasco (198-84) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was center Jan Orfila (207-84) who recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds and forward Jesus Vargas (193-94) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Menorca's coach Miguel Angel Hoyo let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Calvia have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Calvia maintains first position in Group C-A with 16-5 record. Menorca at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the third place with eight games lost. Calvia will face Olivar (#9) in Zaragoza in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Menorca will play on the road against Barna (#13) in Barcelona and hope to win that game.
