Regular Season Round 23: Hapoel Eilat - Maccabi Rishon 94-85

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Hapoel Eilat (13-10) defeated at home 8th ranked Maccabi Rishon (10-13) 94-85. It looked good early as Maccabi Rishon took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hapoel Eilat had a 19-17 second period charge getting the lead and Maccabi Rishon was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-94. Hapoel Eilat made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. International Rafi Menco (198-94) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. American point guard Pierria Henry (193-93, college: Charlotte) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. American-Belarusian point guard Maalik Wayns (185-91, college: Villanova) answered with 23 points and 7 assists and American power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) added 20 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Maccabi Rishon. Four Hapoel Eilat and five Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hapoel Eilat moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hapoel J-M. Maccabi Rishon lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Galil Gilboa and Ironi Nahariya. Hapoel Eilat will play against Galil Gilboa (#10) in Rosh Pina in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Maccabi Rishon will play at home against Hapoel Jerusalem and hopes to get back on the winning track.
