Ninth-ranked Levski (4-17) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Academik Plovdiv (14-6) in Sofia. The visitors from Plovdiv managed to secure only one-point victory 106-105. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a great evening for American point guard Oscar Bellfield (187-90, college: UNLV) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. French-American forward Jordan Semple (201-92, college: Chico St., agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 16 points and 12 rebounds. The former international swingman Pavel Ivanov (200-88, agency: Interperformances) responded with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Veselin Veselinov (202-83, college: W.Virginia St.) scored 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Academik Plovdiv have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 14-6 record having four points less than leader Lukoil Acad. Levski lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Academik Plovdiv will play against Yambol (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Levski will play against Balkan in Botevgrad and hopes to get back on the winning track.
