Second Stage Round 5: Vysocina - Ostrava 87-79

There was a small surprise when nineteenth ranked Vysocina (6-17) defeated 17th ranked Ostrava (8-15) in Jihlava 87-79 on Friday. Vysocina shot 61.8 percent from the field. Vysocina outrebounded Ostrava 29-16 including 21 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Ostrava's players. Martin Novak (199-93) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Jiri Bubak (194-84) contributed with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Point guard Marek Gerych (185-88) answered with 23 points and guard Jan Lycka (186-93) added 19 points and 5 assists in the effort for Ostrava. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vysocina moved-up to eighteenth place in Places 13-20, which they share with GBA Sparta. Ostrava lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixteenth position with 15 games lost. Vysocina will face higher ranked BK Prostejov B (#15) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
