The most surprising game was a loss of Flames (1-1) in Leederville on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Senators (1-1) 95-77. The game was mostly controlled by Senators. Flames managed to win fourth quarter 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Senators dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Flames' 24 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Senators forced 19 Flames turnovers and outrebounded them 46-35 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Flames' players. Center Amber Land (188) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 21 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. American forward Kisha Lee (182-85, college: UNLV) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Senators players scored in double figures. Guard Jacinta Bourne (168-91) replied with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Dena English added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Flames. Flames' coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Senators are looking forward to face Cougars (#10) in Hamilton Hill in the next round where they are favorite. Flames will play on the road against Wanneroo in Joondalup and are hoping to win this game.
