Everything went according to plan when fourteenth ranked Lorient (13-17) beat on the road 16th ranked Union Rennes (11-19) 94-80 on Saturday. Lorient made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Mathieu Bigote (190-84) scored 30 points to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Jared Newson (196-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American swingman Daviin Davis (193-85, college: Weber St.) with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Ghanian-American Asenso Ampim (203-88, college: Columbia, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Union Rennes' coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lorient moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with SAP Vaucluse. Union Rennes lost fourth consecutive game. Lorient will face higher ranked Orchesien BC (#6) in Orchies in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
