Second Stage Round 5: Novy Jicin - Sokol Pisek 73-86

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 16th ranked Novy Jicin's (8-15) home loss to fifteenth ranked Sokol Pisek (12-12) 73-86 on Sunday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sokol Pisek made 7 blocks. Swingman Petr Slechta (192-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Power forward Pavel Englicky (210-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Four Sokol Pisek players scored in double figures. Point guard Jan Stehlik (185-86) answered with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Slovakian center Ondrej Soska (208-78) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Novy Jicin. Novy Jicin's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sokol Pisek moved-up to fourteenth place in Places 13-20. Newly promoted Novy Jicin keeps the sixteenth position with 15 games lost. Sokol Pisek will face bottom-ranked Havirov (#20) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Novy Jicin will play against USK Praha B (#13) and hope to win that game.
