There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Sangiorgese (12-14) outplayed higher ranked USE Basket (13-12) in San Giorgio 82-63 on Wednesday. Sangiorgese dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to USE Basket's 22. Sangiorgese forced 24 USE Basket turnovers. USE Basket was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Daniele-Mario Benzoni (196-80) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Simone Tomasini (196-93) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Michele Bei (200-90) replied with 20 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and guard Filippo Giannini (180-91) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for USE Basket. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sangiorgese moved-up to eighth place in B, which they share with Milano Urania. Loser USE Basket dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. Sangiorgese will face higher ranked Valsesia (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
