ViA narrowly edged Ogre/Kumho in the quarterfinals opener. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. ViA had a 33-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when ViA made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Klavs Dubults (198-96) who helped to win the game recording 6 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Ervins Ivanovs (185-96) contributed with 18 points for the winners. ViA's coach Roberts Zeile used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Raimonds Pabrieza (189-88) answered with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Janis Lasmanis (199-87) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Ogre/Kumho Tyre. Four Ogre/Kumho Tyre players scored in double figures.
