Regular Season Round 3: Geelong S. - Ballarat R. 90-64

There was an upset when Ballarat Rush (0-1) was outplayed on the road by Geelong Supercats (1-1) 90-64 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-64. Geelong Supercats forced 22 Ballarat Rush turnovers and outrebounded them 48-36 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Geelong Supercats made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for international forward Sara Blicavs (188-93) who led her team to a victory scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Guard Chantel-Anais Horvat (182-98) helped adding 16 points and 13 rebounds. Four Geelong Supercats players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Jaterra Bonds (170-92, college: Florida) with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import center Joy Burke (196-90, college: Arizona St.) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Ballarat Rush's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Geelong Supercats will face Lady Cobras in Kilsyth in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
